MTV Staying Alive Squad

Meet our brilliant network of supporters.
Introducing the MTV Staying Alive Squad.

Our Ambassador

Ella Eyre
I’m honoured to be working with MTV Staying Alive this year to help raise awareness of HIV prevention for young people around the world. It is so important that young people have access to the right information in regard to their sexual and reproductive health so they can make positive choices and stay safe. I’ll be using my voice to support their campaigns and make sure more people find out about the work of this fantastic organisation

MTV Staying Alive supports so many organisations across the world, the sad reality is that HIV is a global epidemic. I love and believe in the amazing work that MTV Staying Alive continues to do! I’ve supported the Foundation for years, so it’s amazing to be able to support with the Squad.

It is a great honour to be working with MTV’s Staying Alive Foundation. I’m eager to raise awareness of the ongoing global HIV crisis. By empowering young people with knowledge about the disease – particularly women and girls who are disproportionately affected – we can help treat it and ultimately prevent it altogether.

I am delighted to be part of the MTV Staying Alive Squad. I think it is fantastic that MTV Staying Alive support young people to be real trailblazers and leaders in their communities. I really believe young people will be the change we need to end HIV and promote sexual reproductive rights across the world.

It is imperative to end HIV/AIDS in our lifetime and raise awareness and get young people talking. I make it my duty, and the duty of other artists, to expose and use the platforms that we have and our voices for social good. I am more than willing to help MTV Staying Alive positively impact the lives of young people around world, because MTV Staying Alive has done so much for me as opening my eyes to sexual health/responsibility and the LGBTQI community.

To be a part of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation is like a dream come true, as one of my passions in life has been to give back to my community as a woman of African heritage, and support its development and education particularly within healthcare in any way that I can.

MTV SAF has helped in promoting safe sex behaviours and strengthening capacities of young Indian LGBTQ, particularly MSM and TG. Innovative outreach and awareness strategies for youth are key toward increasing HIV awareness and building an AIDS-free tomorrow.

I am excited about working hand in hand with the MTV Staying Alive Foundation. Their core goals and drive are important messages the world needs to know. It is my primary aim as a story teller and artist to affect and change my world. Working with MTV/Staying Alive on MTV Shuga and as a member of the Squad creates a perfect opportunity to do so.

I am proud to be an ambassador. With Clowns for Condoms we are making some real change on a grass roots level. By using circus we make learning and discussing HIV prevention fun and engaging, while teaching the youth to teach others. If you ask me, everybody has a role to play, and should start now.

We need to work together and collectively make a conscious effort to stop HIV in our communities. This generation need to be fully equipped so they can protect themselves. My voice isn’t loud enough alone but joining a squad as dedicated as this is definitely a step towards positive change.

To use one’s platform to educate, inspire and create change is a privilege and obligation. Young people globally deserve to lead healthy and fulfilling lives. All three of my bloodlines are affected by HIV. We are accountable and we are able to be THE change that saves lives.

It is an awesome privilege to be seen deemed fit to be affiliated to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation/Family, who is celebrating 20 years of immense contribution to fight HIV/AIDS, a chronic, but manageable disease that has become a global pandemic. Having worked on MTV Shuga, my character, ‘Weki’ gave me an insight into what HIV/AIDS entails.

MTV Staying Alive demonstrates its power to transform the lives of young people around the world. Their grants can literally be the difference between life and death for a country affected by HIV/AIDS. I am testament to how that has worked and I’m very proud to lend my support 100%.
