We invited you to ask Alison Tyler about what life is like being a porn star. Here’s what she had to say.

For most, the daily grind involves wading through mass of people on overcrowded public transport, narrowly avoiding stray sweaty armpits, only to arrive at a desk, which you will then hunch over from the hours of 9 to 5.

But for our resident porn star, Alison Tyler, “the daily grind” has a completely different meaning. For better or for worse, porn has become an unavoidable reality of online and offline life. So we invited you to ask Alison anything (and we mean anything) about what life was really like being a female porn star. Here’s what Alison had to say. Thanks Alison.

Has porn changed me as a person? Definitely. It has made me more confident and outspoken and much more mature, it has made me more aware of my body, overall it’s made me a happier person. I definitely look for different things in a partner now (boyfriend).

There was actually no motivation, I unintentionally landed in this industry. I used to work for Greenpeace, I was an English major in college, I was also very shy. A girlfriend of mine started doing porn and asked me if I wanted to come on set, so I did on a whim. I liked it and when I was offered a scene I took it, and here I am 4 years later.

I find most of the people in this industry attractive…Most…Lol. But every once in a while when I’m not particularly attracted to someone is when the professional aspect of being in porn comes in. It’s my job to make him or her feel like I want them and to make the viewer feel as though I want nothing more than to be having sex with this person, so I find little things, maybe I like their eyes. Or maybe they’re a good kisser. I can always find something to concentrate on.

Chloe

Definitely, although I’m a naturally healthy and very active person, I’m a performer, part of my profession is to look good. Although there are fans out there for everyone as well as a niche, staying in shape and keeping up my appearance is definitely a top priority. I like it though, it always challenges me to be at my best.

Up until a couple of months ago the “straight” porn industry tested every 28 days. Now we test every 14 days, for HIV, hepatitis, syphilis, gonorrhea, and chlamydia. The gay porn industry has different regulations than we do. But I feel safer having sex on set than I would with someone I went out on a date with.
