SEMPER MUSICA ASSOCIATION

In Romania, 55% of people newly-infected with HIV catch the virus through heterosexual contact, and 20-24 year-olds account for 35% of all new cases.
Even though many people become sexually active at a young age in Romania, talking about sex with parents at home or with teachers at school is still a taboo, especially in more rural areas. Semper Musica Association increases high school students’ and young people’s access to educational information about HIV, sexual and reproductive health and sexuality through an online discussion platform, comic books and theatre forum sessions.

Semper Musica also aims to reduce the discrimination of people living with HIV and LGBT youths. Since December 2013, Semper Musica has taught almost 4,000 high school students about safe sex and discrimination, and printed and distributed 3,000 comic books. Their online discussion platform has received over 150,000 visitors.
