Mexico

Rubén Barba Aguirre
Project: Jovenes Promotores por la VIHda
Meet Rubén, a 19-year-old guy from Guadalajara, Mexico, who is one of the founders of youth-led HIV-prevention organisation Jovenes Promotores por la VIHda (Young Promoters of Life).

Abhinav Singh + Mohita Keshari
Project: The Dove Foundation
Abhinav and Mohita are the founders of The Dove Foundation. With the support of MTV Staying Alive, they reach out to vulnerable young rickshaw pullers in Varanasi, India, and provide them with valuable information about risky behaviour and HIV, using street theatre and interactive teaching sessions.

Cameroon

Mallah Tabot
Project: United Vision
Mallah is a feminist, blogger, journalist, and women`s rights activist from Cameroon. Her organisation United Vision, which was funded by the MTV Staying Alive Foundation from 2010 to 2014, educates young women in rural Cameroon about HIV. In 2015, Mallah’s exceptional leadership was recognised with a Queen’s Young Leader Award.

Kenya

Hope Mwanake
Project: TRACE
Hope is a social entrepreneur and one of co-founders of MTV Staying Alive Grant Winner TRACE, a youth-led HIV prevention organisation from Kenya. In 2014, Hope was selected for US President Obama’s prestigious Washington Mandela Fellowship programme, as part of which she spent a semester at Yale University in the USA.

Tyler Spencer
Project: The Grassroot
In 2009 Tyler founded The Grassroot Project, which uses sports to provide youth in Washington, D.C. with the knowledge and skills to live healthy lives. Tyler is currently doing a PhD in Public Health at the University of Oxford and he has been recognised as a World Economic Forum Young Global Shaper.

Macedonia

Mustafa Jakupov
Project: RROMA
Mustafa is co-founder of former MTV Staying Alive Grant Winner RROMA, the Regional Roma Educational Youth Association, from Macedonia. RROMA has contributed greatly to taking away the taboo attached to sexual health within the younger Roma community in Macedonia. Mustafa is currently sitting in the board of the MTV Staying Alive Foundation.
