MTV RE:DEFINE is back for a fifth year, and it’s boasting the most impressive line-up of work to date.
A dynamic charity art exhibition and auction, RE:DEFINE brings together iconic and specially commissioned artworks by art icons and emerging new talent with the help of renowned curator, Neville Wakefield.
This year’s event will be held at Dallas Contemporary and features works by Marc Quinn, Sterling Ruby, Enoc Perez, Dan Colen, and Damien Hirst – to name just a few. If that wasn’t enough, MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Dallas Contemporary are honored to announce multi-platinum recording artist Leona Lewis as the headlining performer of this year’s auction and event.
This year’s RE:DEFINE event will take place on Friday April 8, proceeds of which will benefit MTV Staying Alive and Dallas Contemporary. Artist Enoc Perez is this year’s artist honoree, and the evening’s auctioneer will be Simon de Pury.
In 2015, MTV RE:DEFINE raised a staggering $2 million for the MTV Staying Alive Foundation and Dallas Contemporary, a figure that we hope to beat this year! Money raised will go a long way in supporting MTV Staying Alive’s grass-roots initiatives, from Mexico to Malawi and from Romania to Rwanda.
Here’s an idea what we could do with:
- $1,000: organise 5 HIV sensitisation meetings for 75 young marginalised deaf people in Uganda
- $5,000: test 3,000 young gay men for HIV in Kenya
- $10,000: fund 1 girls-led HIV awareness project in India for 1 year, educating more than 10,000 school girls about safe sex, condom negotiation and self-confidence
If you can’t make it to Dallas, you can check out the amazing artwork online at Paddle8 and participate in the online auction, which is live now!
